ARPA

ARPA (Automatic Radar Plotting Aid) is a computer-based navigation system that uses radar and digital processing to provide real-time information about the movement of other ships in the vicinity. It is used to assist the officer on watch in making navigational decisions and avoiding collisions. ARPA can display the range, bearing, and speed of other vessels, as well as their predicted future positions based on their current course and speed. It can also calculate the closest point of approach (CPA) and time to CPA (TCPA) for each target, allowing the officer on watch to take appropriate action to avoid a collision.
