Watch

A watch is a device used for measuring time, typically worn on the wrist or carried in a pocket. In maritime context, a watch refers to a period of time during which a designated group of crew members are responsible for the safe operation of the vessel. The watch system is an essential part of maritime operations, ensuring that the vessel is constantly monitored and navigated safely. The standard watch system is a four-hour rotation, with two or three watches per day, depending on the size of the crew. During their watch, crew members are responsible for monitoring the vessel's position, course, speed, and any potential hazards, as well as performing routine maintenance and safety checks.
