Galley
A galley is a type of ship that is propelled mainly by rowing. It is characterized by its long, slender hull, shallow draft, and low freeboard. Galleys were used in ancient times, particularly by the Greeks and Romans, and were also used during the Middle Ages and Renaissance. They were often used for warfare, piracy, and trade. Galleys were crewed by rowers, who sat on benches arranged in rows along the length of the ship. The galley also had a small crew of officers and sailors who were responsible for navigation, steering, and other tasks. Galleys were eventually replaced by sailing ships, which were faster and more efficient.
