Onboard Ship Systems

Onboard Ship Systems refer to the various systems and technologies installed on a ship to ensure its efficient operation, safety, and navigation. These systems encompass a wide range of functionalities, from propulsion and steering to communication and safety. The propulsion system, often powered by diesel engines or gas turbines, propels the ship through water. The steering system, which includes the rudder and steering gear, controls the ship's direction. Onboard communication systems, such as radios and satellite communication devices, enable communication with other ships, port authorities, and maritime control centers. Safety systems include life-saving equipment, fire detection and suppression systems, and emergency signaling devices. Navigation systems, such as radar, GPS, and electronic chart display and information systems (ECDIS), provide critical information for safe and efficient navigation. These systems are interconnected and managed through an integrated bridge system (IBS), which allows for centralized control and monitoring. Onboard Ship Systems are essential for the ship's operation, safety, and compliance with international maritime regulations.
