Electronic Chart Display

Electronic Chart Display (ECD) is a computer-based navigation system that displays real-time vessel position and movement on an electronic chart. It integrates information from various navigational sensors, such as GPS, radar, and depth sounder, to provide a comprehensive and accurate picture of the vessel's surroundings. ECD systems also allow for route planning and optimization, as well as the display of additional information such as weather, tides, and navigational hazards. The use of ECD systems has become increasingly common in the maritime industry, as they provide improved situational awareness and safety for vessels.
