Gate Valve
A gate valve is a type of valve used to control the flow of fluid through a pipe or channel. It operates by lifting a gate or wedge out of the path of the fluid. This allows for a full unobstructed flow when the valve is fully open. When the valve is closed, the gate or wedge is lowered back into place, completely blocking the flow of fluid. Gate valves are commonly used in maritime applications, such as on ships and offshore platforms, due to their ability to provide a tight seal and withstand high pressure and temperature. They are often used in systems that require frequent operation and shut-off, such as ballast systems and fire-fighting systems.
