Forehook
A forehook is a device used on a ship to secure the anchor cable when the anchor is stowed. It is a metal hook that is attached to the ship's structure and is used to hold the anchor cable in place. The forehook is typically located on the foredeck of the ship, near the hawsepipe where the anchor cable enters the ship. When the anchor is raised, the cable is pulled up through the hawsepipe and secured to the forehook to prevent it from slipping back into the sea. The forehook is an important safety feature that helps to prevent damage to the ship and injury to the crew.
