Becket
Becket is a heavy iron pin or bar that is used to secure a ship's shrouds and stays to the side of the vessel. It is usually made of iron and has a flattened end that is inserted into a hole in the side of the ship. The other end of the becket is curved or bent to form a hook that is used to hold the shroud or stay in place. Becket is an important part of a ship's rigging and is used to keep the mast and other parts of the rigging in place during rough seas or high winds.
