Weathertight

Weathertight refers to a condition of a ship's structure or equipment that prevents the ingress of water under any sea conditions. A weathertight ship is designed and constructed to withstand heavy weather and rough seas without taking on water. Weathertightness is essential for the safety of the crew, protection of cargo, and the integrity of the ship's structure. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has established regulations and standards for weathertightness, which include testing procedures and requirements for various ship components such as doors, hatches, and ventilation systems.
