Topgallant Sail

A topgallant sail is a square sail that is set above the topmast and below the royal sail on a square-rigged ship. It is typically used in light to moderate wind conditions and provides additional speed and maneuverability to the vessel. The topgallant sail is hoisted on the topgallant mast, which is an extension of the topmast. It is controlled by the topgallant yard, which is a spar that is attached to the mast and used to raise and lower the sail. The topgallant sail is often used in conjunction with other sails, such as the mainsail and topsail, to maximize the ship's speed and efficiency.
