Swash Bulkhead

A swash bulkhead is a watertight partition located at the forward end of a ship's cargo hold, designed to prevent water ingress into the hold during heavy seas. It is typically a transverse bulkhead that extends from the ship's side to the centerline, and is reinforced to withstand the impact of waves.
