Swash Bulkhead

A swash bulkhead is a watertight partition located at the forward end of a ship's cargo hold, designed to prevent water ingress into the hold during heavy seas. It is typically a transverse bulkhead that extends from the ship's side to the centerline, and is reinforced to withstand the impact of waves. The swash bulkhead is an important safety feature that helps to maintain the stability and seaworthiness of the vessel, as well as protect the cargo from damage. In addition, it helps to prevent the ship from sinking in the event of a collision or grounding.
