Sto-ro

Sto-ro is a term used in maritime industry to refer to a type of fuel oil that is a blend of two different grades of marine fuel oil, namely bunker A and bunker C. The term 'sto-ro' is derived from the words 'stock' and 'residual oil'. The purpose of blending these two grades of fuel oil is to achieve a fuel with a viscosity and density that is suitable for the engine of the vessel. Sto-ro is commonly used in large marine vessels such as tankers, bulk carriers, and container ships. The blending of bunker A and bunker C is done on board the vessel in a dedicated tank known as the blending tank.
