Stagger
Stagger refers to the movement of a ship in a rolling and unsteady manner due to the effects of waves, wind, and currents. This movement can be dangerous for the ship and its crew, as it can cause cargo to shift, equipment to break loose, and people to lose their balance and fall. Stagger can be minimized by proper ballasting and loading of the ship, as well as by adjusting the course and speed to avoid the worst of the weather. However, in extreme conditions, stagger may be unavoidable and the crew must be prepared to deal with it.
