Short Ton


Short Ton is a unit of weight measurement in the maritime industry which is equivalent to 2,000 pounds or 907.185 kilograms. It is commonly used to measure the weight of cargo, fuel, and other materials on board ships. The term 'short' is used to distinguish it from the long ton which is equivalent to 2,240 pounds or 1,016.047 kilograms. The short ton is widely used in the United States, while the long ton is more commonly used in the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth countries.
