Sheer Plan

In naval architecture, the sheer plan is a profile drawing of a vessel seen from the side. It shows the ship's lines of head and stern, the deck line, and the waterline. The sheer plan is used to determine the vessel's freeboard, which is the distance between the waterline and the main deck. The freeboard is an important factor in determining the vessel's stability and seaworthiness. The sheer plan also shows the height of the bulwarks, which are the protective walls along the edges of the deck. The sheer plan is an essential tool for ship designers and builders, as it provides a detailed view of the vessel's shape and structure.
