Rudder Blade
A rudder blade is a flat, vertical or near-vertical component of a ship's steering system that is mounted at the stern or aft end of the vessel. It is used to control the direction of the ship by deflecting the flow of water passing over it. The rudder blade is typically made of metal or composite materials and is attached to the rudder stock, which is turned by the ship's steering gear. The size and shape of the rudder blade are determined by the size and maneuverability of the ship, as well as the expected operating conditions. A larger rudder blade provides greater turning force, but also creates more drag and reduces the ship's speed.
