Photosynthesis

Photosynthesis is the process by which green plants and some other organisms use sunlight to synthesize foods with the help of chlorophyll. In this process, carbon dioxide and water are converted into glucose and oxygen. Photosynthesis is essential for the survival of most life forms on Earth as it produces oxygen, which is necessary for respiration. In the maritime context, photosynthesis is important for marine plants such as seaweeds and phytoplankton, which are the primary producers of the ocean. These plants use photosynthesis to produce organic matter, which forms the base of the marine food chain.
