Molded Breadth
Molded breadth is the maximum breadth of a ship measured between the outer surfaces of the frames, at a certain molded depth, usually at the level of the uppermost continuous deck. It is an important measurement for shipbuilders as it determines the size of the ship's cargo carrying capacity, stability, and maneuverability. Molded breadth is also used to calculate the block coefficient, which is the ratio of the underwater volume of a ship to the volume of a rectangular block having the same overall length, breadth, and depth. This coefficient is used to determine the resistance of a ship through water.
