Breadth

In maritime context, breadth refers to the maximum width of a ship at its widest point. It is measured from the outermost point on one side of the ship to the outermost point on the opposite side. Breadth is an important measurement as it determines the ship's stability and carrying capacity. A wider ship will have a larger deck area and more space for cargo, passengers, and crew. However, a wider ship may also be less stable in rough seas and require more power to move through the water. Therefore, the breadth of a ship must be carefully considered in relation to its length, depth, and other design factors to ensure optimal performance and safety.
