Marine Diesel Oil

Marine Diesel Oil (MDO) is a type of fuel oil used in marine diesel engines. It is a blend of various distillates and residual fuel oils, with a lower viscosity and sulfur content than heavy fuel oil (HFO). MDO is commonly used in smaller vessels, such as fishing boats and yachts, as well as in auxiliary engines on larger ships. It is also used as a backup fuel for ships that primarily run on HFO. MDO is less expensive than marine gas oil (MGO), which has a lower sulfur content, but is more expensive to produce. However, MDO emits more pollutants than MGO, and is subject to stricter environmental regulations in certain areas.
