Lurch
Lurch is a sudden and violent roll of a ship caused by a heavy sea or a sudden shift of cargo. It is a dangerous phenomenon that can cause damage to the ship's structure and cargo, and can also injure or even kill crew members who are not properly secured. Lurch can occur in any type of vessel, but is more common in smaller ships with a high center of gravity. To prevent lurch, ships must be loaded and trimmed properly, and crew members must be trained to secure themselves and the cargo in rough seas.
