Limber Strake
A limber strake is a plank fitted inside the floor of a ship's bilge to cover the limbers, which are the openings between the frames that allow water to flow towards the pumps. The limber strake helps to prevent debris from clogging the limbers and impeding the flow of water. It also provides additional strength to the ship's structure by connecting the floors and frames. The limber strake is usually made of a durable wood such as oak or teak, and is carefully fitted and caulked to ensure a watertight seal. Proper maintenance of the limber strake is essential for the safety and longevity of the ship.
