Keelson
A keelson is a longitudinal beam that runs along the bottom of a ship's hull, from stem to stern, in the centerline. It is usually located above the keel and below the floor timbers. The keelson provides additional strength and stiffness to the hull, helping to distribute the weight of the ship evenly and resist the forces of the sea. It also serves as a foundation for the ship's frames and helps to maintain the shape of the hull. Keelsons are commonly found in larger vessels, such as cargo ships and naval vessels.
