Keel Blocks

Keel blocks are wooden or steel blocks that are placed under the keel of a ship when it is dry-docked for maintenance or repairs. The keel blocks support the weight of the ship and keep it upright while it is out of the water. They are positioned along the length of the keel and are designed to distribute the weight of the ship evenly. Keel blocks are an essential part of the dry-docking process and must be carefully selected and positioned to ensure the safety of the ship and the workers involved in the maintenance or repair work.
