Gore-Tex
Gore-Tex is a waterproof and breathable fabric membrane that is used in a variety of maritime applications, including clothing, footwear, and equipment. The membrane is made up of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE), which contains over 9 billion microscopic pores per square inch. These pores are too small for water droplets to pass through, but large enough for water vapor to escape, allowing for breathability. Gore-Tex is highly durable and resistant to abrasion, making it ideal for use in harsh marine environments. It is commonly used in foul weather gear, sailing jackets, and footwear for sailors and other maritime professionals.
