Fulcrum

In maritime context, Fulcrum refers to the point on a vessel where the weight of the vessel is considered to be concentrated. It is the point where the vessel would balance if it were suspended from that point. The position of the fulcrum is important in determining the stability of the vessel. If the center of gravity of the vessel is below the fulcrum, the vessel will be stable. However, if the center of gravity is above the fulcrum, the vessel will be unstable and prone to capsizing. The fulcrum is also known as the pivot point or the point of balance.
