Foam

Foam is a collection of small bubbles of air that form on the surface of a liquid, typically caused by agitation or turbulence. In maritime context, foam is often used as a fire suppression agent. Foam is effective in extinguishing fires involving flammable liquids, such as oil and gasoline, by forming a blanket over the fuel and preventing the release of flammable vapors. Foam can also be used to control and contain spills of hazardous materials on water. Foam is produced by mixing water with a foam concentrate, which contains surfactants and other additives to enhance its performance.
