Doubling Plates

Doubling plates are additional steel plates that are welded to the sides of a ship's hull to reinforce and strengthen it. These plates are commonly used in areas of the hull that are subject to high stress, such as the bow and stern. Doubling plates can also be used to repair damage to the hull caused by collisions or grounding. The thickness and size of the doubling plates depend on the size and type of the ship, as well as the specific area of the hull that requires reinforcement. Proper installation of doubling plates is crucial for the safety and structural integrity of the ship.
