CCNR

The Central Commission for Navigation on the Rhine (CCNR) is an international organization that regulates navigation on the Rhine river and its tributaries. It was established in 1815 and is composed of representatives from Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. The CCNR is responsible for ensuring the safety of navigation, protecting the environment, and promoting economic development in the region. It sets standards for vessels, crew, and navigation equipment, and enforces regulations related to transport of dangerous goods, pollution prevention, and river maintenance. The CCNR also provides a forum for member states to discuss and coordinate policies related to inland waterway transport.
