Buoyant Force
Buoyant force is the upward force exerted by a fluid on an object that is partially or completely submerged in it. It is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the object. In maritime context, buoyant force plays a crucial role in determining the stability and safety of ships and other floating structures. The buoyancy of a ship is determined by the shape and size of its hull, as well as the weight and distribution of its cargo. If the buoyant force is greater than the weight of the ship and its cargo, the ship will float. However, if the weight of the ship and its cargo is greater than the buoyant force, the ship will sink. Therefore, understanding buoyant force is essential for designing and operating safe and efficient ships.
