Berth Term

Berth Term refers to the period of time that a vessel is allowed to occupy a berth in a port. It is the time between the vessel's arrival at the berth and its departure from the berth. The Berth Term is agreed upon between the vessel's agent and the port authority, and it is usually specified in the vessel's charter party or in a separate agreement. During the Berth Term, the vessel is expected to load or unload cargo, take on supplies, and perform any necessary repairs or maintenance. If the vessel exceeds the Berth Term, it may be subject to demurrage charges, which are fees charged for the vessel's use of the berth beyond the agreed-upon time.
