Anchoring System

An anchoring system is a set of equipment and procedures used to secure a vessel in a specific location using an anchor. The system includes the anchor, chain, windlass, and other related equipment. The anchor is lowered to the seabed and the chain is paid out to provide sufficient scope for the vessel to swing with the wind and tide. The windlass is used to control the deployment and retrieval of the anchor and chain. The anchoring system is critical for the safety of the vessel and its crew, as well as for the protection of the marine environment. Proper use of the anchoring system requires knowledge of the seabed, weather conditions, and vessel characteristics.
