Alongside

Alongside refers to the position of a vessel when it is moored or docked directly next to a pier, quay, or another vessel. When a ship is alongside, it is secured to the dock or another vessel with ropes, lines, or other mooring equipment. This position is commonly used for loading and unloading cargo, passengers, or supplies. The term 'alongside' can also be used as an adverb to describe an action taking place next to the vessel, such as 'working alongside the ship'.
