Ullage Hatch
An ullage hatch is a small opening on the deck of a ship that provides access to the ullage space, which is the area between the top of a liquid cargo and the underside of the hatch covers. This space is used to measure the quantity of liquid cargo on board and to allow for expansion and contraction of the cargo due to temperature changes. The ullage hatch is typically fitted with a cover that can be secured to prevent any spillage or contamination of the cargo. It is an important feature of a ship's cargo handling system and is used by crew members and inspectors to ensure that the cargo is loaded, stowed, and discharged safely and efficiently.
