Turnbuckle
A turnbuckle is a device used to adjust the tension or length of ropes, cables, tie rods, and other tensioning systems in maritime applications. It consists of two threaded eye bolts, one screwed into each end of a small metal frame, one with a left-hand thread and the other with a right-hand thread. By rotating the frame, the tension on the ropes or cables can be adjusted. Turnbuckles are commonly used in rigging and mooring systems on ships and boats to ensure proper tension and alignment of the rigging components. They are also used in the construction of docks and other maritime structures to provide stability and support.
