Trunk Bulkhead
Trunk Bulkhead is a type of watertight bulkhead that extends from the bottom of the ship to the topmost continuous deck, dividing the ship into separate compartments. It is designed to prevent the flooding of one compartment from affecting the stability and safety of the entire ship. Trunk Bulkheads are usually found in large vessels such as oil tankers, container ships, and bulk carriers. They are constructed with heavy steel plates and reinforced with stiffeners to withstand the pressure of water in case of a breach. The Trunk Bulkhead also provides additional structural support to the ship, making it more rigid and less prone to bending and twisting in rough seas.
