Trade Winds
Trade winds are the prevailing pattern of easterly surface winds found in the tropics, within the lower portion of the Earth's atmosphere, in the region between the equator and 30 degrees latitude. These winds blow predominantly from the northeast in the Northern Hemisphere and from the southeast in the Southern Hemisphere. They are called trade winds because they were used by sailors in the past to trade goods between continents. The trade winds are important for navigation and have been used for centuries by sailors to cross the world's oceans. They are also important for weather patterns and ocean currents, as they help to distribute heat and moisture around the globe.
