Territorial Sea
Territorial sea is a belt of coastal waters extending at most 12 nautical miles from the baseline of a coastal state. The coastal state exercises sovereignty over this belt, including the airspace above and the seabed below. Foreign vessels are allowed to navigate through the territorial sea, subject to certain conditions such as innocent passage. The territorial sea is an important concept in international law as it defines the extent of a coastal state's jurisdiction and control over its adjacent waters.
