Stabilizers

Stabilizers are devices used on ships to reduce the rolling motion caused by waves. They work by creating a counteracting force to the rolling motion, thereby increasing the ship's stability and reducing the discomfort and risk of injury to passengers and crew. There are different types of stabilizers, including fin stabilizers, gyroscopic stabilizers, and anti-roll tanks. Fin stabilizers are fixed to the hull and extend into the water, creating lift that counteracts the rolling motion. Gyroscopic stabilizers use spinning discs to create a stabilizing force, while anti-roll tanks are tanks that are partially filled with water and connected to the ship's motion sensors, which pump water from one side to the other to counteract the rolling motion.
