Squall

A squall is a sudden, sharp increase in wind speed that is usually associated with active weather, such as thunderstorms, thunderstorm clusters, or lines of thunderstorms. Squalls can occur at any time of the year and are often accompanied by heavy rain, lightning, thunder, and sometimes hail. They can be very dangerous for ships, especially if they are caught off guard. Squalls can cause sudden and violent changes in wind direction and speed, which can capsize a vessel or cause it to lose control. Therefore, it is important for sailors to keep a close eye on the weather and be prepared for sudden changes in conditions.
