Sole Patch

Sole Patch is a reinforced area on the bottom of a ship's hull, specifically designed to withstand the wear and tear caused by contact with the ground during beaching or grounding. It is usually made of thick steel plates and is located at the aft end of the ship's bottom. The sole patch protects the ship's hull from damage and prevents water from entering the ship's compartments. It is an essential component of a ship's design, especially for vessels that frequently operate in shallow waters or need to beach for maintenance or cargo operations.
