Sheer Rail

Sheer Rail is a horizontal structure located at the upper edge of a ship's side, running from bow to stern. It is designed to provide additional strength to the hull and to prevent water from entering the ship. Sheer rails are typically made of steel or wood and are an important safety feature of a vessel, as they help to prevent accidents and protect the crew from falling overboard. In addition to their practical function, sheer rails can also be decorative, and are often painted or adorned with other embellishments.
