Sagging

Sagging is a term used in naval architecture to describe the deformation of a ship's hull that occurs when the weight of the cargo or other equipment on board causes the middle of the ship to bend downward. This can lead to a reduction in the ship's speed and maneuverability, as well as increased fuel consumption. Sagging can also cause stress on the ship's structure, which can lead to cracks and other damage. To prevent sagging, ship designers must carefully calculate the ship's load capacity and ensure that the cargo is distributed evenly throughout the ship. Additionally, ship operators must monitor the ship's weight and adjust the cargo as necessary to prevent excessive sagging.
