Overflight

Overflight is the act of flying over a particular area or territory without landing or stopping. In maritime context, overflight is often used to refer to the passage of aircraft over a ship or a group of ships at sea. Overflight can be conducted for various purposes such as surveillance, reconnaissance, search and rescue, or military operations. Overflight is subject to international laws and regulations, and the permission of the coastal state may be required in some cases. The coastal state has the right to regulate the conditions under which overflight may take place, including the altitude, the route, and the time of day.
