Macroalgae

Macroalgae are large, multicellular, photosynthetic marine organisms commonly known as seaweeds. They are found in both shallow and deep waters and can grow attached to rocks, shells, or other substrates. Macroalgae play an important role in the marine ecosystem as they provide food and habitat for a variety of marine organisms. They are also used by humans for food, medicine, and industrial purposes. Macroalgae are classified into three groups based on their pigmentation: brown, red, and green. They are also classified based on their growth form, which can be filamentous, sheet-like, or complex.
