Lower Sulfur Content
Lower Sulfur Content refers to the reduction of sulfur content in marine fuels to comply with the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) regulations. The IMO has set a global cap of 0.50% on the sulfur content of marine fuels, which came into effect on January 1, 2020. This regulation aims to reduce the harmful effects of sulfur emissions on the environment and human health. The reduction of sulfur content can be achieved through various methods, including the use of low-sulfur fuels, exhaust gas cleaning systems (scrubbers), and alternative fuels such as liquefied natural gas (LNG).
