Lashings

Lashings refer to the ropes or cords used to secure cargo or equipment on a ship's deck or in its hold. They are used to prevent the cargo from shifting or falling during rough seas or sudden maneuvers. Lashings are typically made of strong, durable materials such as nylon or polyester and are tied in a variety of knots and configurations depending on the type of cargo being secured. Properly securing cargo with lashings is essential for the safety of the ship, crew, and cargo, and failure to do so can result in damage to the ship or loss of cargo overboard.
