Ice-bound
Ice-bound refers to a condition where a ship is surrounded by ice and unable to move. This can occur in polar regions or during winter months in colder climates. Ice-bound ships may be at risk of damage from the pressure of the ice, and may require assistance from icebreakers or other vessels to break free. In extreme cases, crews may be forced to abandon ship if the ice continues to close in. Ice-bound conditions can also impact shipping lanes and ports, causing delays and disruptions to maritime commerce.
