Half-breadth Plan

In naval architecture, a half-breadth plan is a cross-sectional view of a vessel taken at right angles to the centerline. It shows the shape of the hull at each section station, including the waterline, buttock lines, and diagonal lines. The half-breadth plan is used to determine the vessel's displacement, stability, and resistance to motion through the water. It is an essential tool for ship designers and naval architects in the early stages of vessel design and is used to create a full set of construction plans. The half-breadth plan is also used in shipbuilding to ensure that the vessel is being constructed according to the design specifications.
