GLONASS

GLONASS (Global Navigation Satellite System) is a satellite-based navigation system operated by the Russian Aerospace Defense Forces. It provides global coverage and is the Russian equivalent of the American GPS system. GLONASS consists of a constellation of satellites in orbit around the Earth, ground control stations, and user receivers. The system provides real-time positioning, velocity, and timing information to users on land, sea, and air. GLONASS is widely used in the maritime industry for navigation, vessel tracking, and search and rescue operations.
